I think so, yes. After years of speech therapy there was only so far that could take me, and I went to a few sessions with a psychologist who specialised in stuttering and speech related anxiety. I got a lot out of it, and it really helped with the aspect of my stutter that was anxiety related. There are some high stakes circumstances where the best thing to do is stop giving a shit, stop thinking so much about the stutter. So yes, the psychologist really helped in that way and gave me new ways to think about it. Would recommend, especially if they have a history of working with stutterers.
