I shared this with a post yesterday, but I would recommend going out and doing things you know you already love. Even if you're alone. If you're already at a place / doing something you love and see other people there too, chances are they love it too. To ease the awkwardness of meeting someone new, I would say you have a stutter right from the start. It'll ease the awkwardness of the other person, and hopefully help you ease up as well.
