I am studying to be a speech therapist and I have heard of this. With names, it is hard because you can't switch the word up to avoid the stutter. I treated a teenager and one of his things is he couldn't say his last name (he would just spell it out every time) and I taught him techniques to work on the "k" sound in the beginning of his last name and he said it helped.
