That's a great point. I'm glad you realise this conundrum. I had the same issue. I was told to read out loud. So I did, but I rarely ever stuttered when I did unless I was super in my head, trying not to stutter. I found out the next day my speech would be so much WORSE. What I realized is the more I engrained in my brain "say these words and try not to stutter" the more power I gave my stutter and the more i feared it. Bringing this mindset into every conversation which made my speech worse. So if you are reading outloud to try and not stutter.. dont. But there are some different things you can do when reading outloud that can serve to improve your confidence and expressiveness, so that you can bring confidence and expressiveness mindset into your interactions afterward. Instead of the bad mindset "try not to stutter". Feel free to hit me up 🤟
