Is your stutter hereditary?

Is your stutter hereditary? I have a moderate stutter (block, repetition, elongation) and have had it since I was about 4 years old. My mother also has a stutter (blocks, elongation) so I assume I “got it” from her. Nobody else (to my knowledge) has a stutter. Do any of you have family ties to another person who stutters? Also, if you have a kid who stutters, when did you notice it? I’m trying not to read too much into the sounds my 18 month old makes when speaking and repeating words, but it makes me hyper aware of her speech patterns. It’s probably too young to tell right?
