Breathing problems

Breathing problems I'll give a little bit of background information first; I had an extreme stutter and several other disfluencies but breathing was not always much of a problem, now that my stuttering has gotten better (while it is still severe) I am noticing more air problems. I had been told to breath at the start of every sentence and I'd be fine since the first day of speech therapy onward, but now when I do that (which previously worked) I am gasping for breath mid sentence. My speech therapist is of no use.
