That is great news. And it is so comforting to hear that you are succeeding in the field regardless of certain setbacks. It was always a dilemma for me whether I should mention that I stutter on my cover letter or intro letter needed for administration and my Cooperating (mentor) Teacher. With that said, I have never mentioned it. Even during says I stutter in class, I still do not mention it since it they are usually subtle enough that I just hope the students and my CT can just pass it for a slip or something. So: 1) is it a mistake that i never refer to my stuttering? Or at least make it known to my peers, CTs, administration, students the I do? 2) I have just always thought that referring to it just brings up my limitations. But shouldn't we just be proud of ourselves and never let anything limit us? 3) if I was to openly share that I stutter, what is a way of going about this? 4) I just want to share that my CT was reading a book called "Just Ask" to the students which talks about different conditions people might have and people that our students can come across. One of the kids in the book was a person that stuttered. As my CT was reading the blurb, I felt sick to my stomache that I wasnt speaking up and informing them all that I deal with this condition. And I felt like it could have been such a beautiful learning opportunity. My 26 years of life, I have never openly shared that I do, only when people ask do I answer truthfully. Thoughts on this? Thanks for any one that takes the time to read this long post!
