Research (that I've linked in this thread) also supports your statement that the chance of outgrowing increases if the parent doesn't ask to slow down or repeat a sentence. In my opinion, because the kid could perceive "asking to slow down" as 'my speech error is bad (increasing emotions) and needs more control (increasing anticipation)' which leads to a speech block
