Having people "lean in" to hear you I'd gone to a party last night, I was stuttering moderately/severely for the most part, but being drunk definitely helped quite a bit. At one point in the night, I was sitting on a couch and a girl was standing in front of me. She made a comment out loud which I found funny so I said something (fluently) in response. Unfortunately, it was pretty loud so she could not hear me, so she essentially came right up to me and brought her ear next to my mouth so I could say it louder. And holy shit that was terrifying, having to speak directly into someone's ear. Usually when you're talking to someone they can see you stuttering/struggling to get the words out, but there were no visual cues in this case. Especially since she didn't even know I stuttered. Fortunately, I was pretty drunk so I got the words out without stuttering. This exact situation has happened a couple of times before. I'm laughing at how they would have reacted if I started unexpectedly stuttering into their ear. Or even worse if I blocked and they just kept having to wait for me to say something, confused about why my face is right up near their ear but I'm not saying anything hahaha Anyone else been in this situation?
