It was a homemade tape that he produced. Spotify, Apple Music, etc… have relaxation tracks you can browse through. The important part for me was to focus on my breathing, lower my heart rate. The tape had me envision dolphins coming up for air (inhale 5 seconds) and then diving down through the ocean(exhale 5 seconds). Repeat that over and over. Another part had my take a deep breath and tense various muscles while holding in the breath for ten seconds. Start from the feet and work your way up to your face. Release the tension at the same time you exhale. All in all it was about 30 minutes of meditation. Even if it hadnt helped my stutter, it felt really good! Certain stressful situations do bring back my stutter. Introducing myself to new people takes focus and I do fuck it up about 50% of the time. The way my stutter manifests is through facial tension and mouth ticks. So I kind of get stuck in a lip smacking kind of face scrunch…NOT the best first impression. Once I know people, it’s pretty much fine. I can also do presentations and speak in front of large groups without stuttering. I’m nervous as hell but my stupid brain seems to let me get through it ok. Hope the helps!
