Any tips on easing my stutter? I’m in high school and given that there’s constantly social interaction and being called on in class... are there tips on making my stutter not as prominent? I’ve been able to hold conversation with close family and friends but eventually I stammer once and then it goes down into a snowball. I’ve heard reading out loud is good practice which I’ve started a few days ago so it’s going okay. Are there other ways to practice? I’m in French and trying to greet my teacher in the morning just has been bleh bleh bleh-ing all the time. How do I fix the certain syllables that I struggle with? I’ve noticed there’s certain trigger syllables I stutter bad with but I can’t exactly avoid them in French when I’m required to say that specific syllable for a sentence. Any advice would be wonderful! Edit: uh I don’t actually know how to make an “update” so I’m editing this post. I know it’s been like 2 months since the last I posted this but all the advice of speaking more, gaining confidence, AND no longer associating my stutter with negative emotion has helped TREMENDOUSLY. I cannot explain how much I speak so clearly now (little stutters here and there when I get overly excited or when I have a little burst of emotion). Plus I don’t even notice it now, lol, I could be stuttering but I don’t notice it at all! Being confident is a huge game changer and I literally had a pep talk with myself about being too insecure and worrying too much about my stutter. It helped!!! One of the major factors helping me gain confidence was so stop moping around and sitting in my own self-pity. I’m very passionate about writing and started picking up on it along with reading. Also, I’m overtly answering questions in class and making sure to speak a LOT with classmates in order to teach myself to SPEAK SPEAK SPEAK!! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who gave me tips!! 12/13/2020
