Stuttering and phone calls One recurring topic that I see being discussed over and over - phone calls. Especially what to do if you're trying to make phone calls with a stutter. Before I go into this in depth...a lot of people dislike phone calls. It can be for a number of reasons. But please understand that you're not alone in having fears about phonecalls. Sometimes it's easier for people to talk on the phone. Because there's nobody directly in front of you. Sometimes it's harder for people to talk on the phone - because there's nobody directly in front of you. This can add to the pressure of "delivering". By delivering, I mean saying what needs to be said and saying it well. This is where it's imperative to remain calm. The other person is on the phone and will stay on the phone until you've finished speaking. Especially if you're inquiring about services (with your bank, doctor, dentist, retail store etc). This makes it a great opportunity to speak slowly and be in control of your breathing. To do this, lump a few words together and focus on your breathing around it. For example: *breathe* "I would like" *breathe* "to talk" *breathe* "to someone about" *breathe* "your opening times". *breathe This example can be used in regular conversation too. However, put a bigger emphasis on it when speaking on the phone. You do see people talking fast on the phone. Then, you also see people talk extremely slowly on the phone. I opt for the latter. It helps you to remain composed and feeling great. I also mention this in my newest video too. Feel free to take a look! :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kz7wY0aI2GI
