Oh absolutely, happens to me more often than not. While working at an ice cream shop over this past summer I would avoid taking orders, just minding my business preparing stuff for people. But when my coworkers were busy, I’d have to take orders at the front window. Over the course of the summer people laughed straight at my face 238 times (I kept track). 5 of which were my boss, who knew about it and I had explained to her what it was before she hired me. Best part? I was called a Ret*rd several times too. I guess that’s what I get for working in a tourist town. Oh and school is even worse. Currently in the end of my Junior year and I’ve found it’s just better to not talk to people I don’t know. Not even try. Because it’s about a 75% chance that they’ll make fun of me or ask “what’s wrong with you?” I guess some people just genuinely don’t understand, but it’s still really annoying to have to deal with explaining something when I literally cannot manage a single word because of the blockage.
