No. Don’t give up. I have a moderate stutter and man it’s been debilitating. There’s no fighting that. It’s a stigmatised speech impediment in our society and it’s rough. But don’t let it defeat you, it doesn’t DEFINE who you are. Listen, I’m not saying living with this is going to be easy. I’m currently looking for work right now after graduating college and I’m scared shitless. But listen to this, I graduated with a good degree and managed to get through presentations in class whilst stuttering a bit. If you can’t do that, speak to your teacher about it. People are so much more understanding about things than you’d expect, really. This pain and hurt isn’t worth it over a speech impediment. I’m not trying to undermine your struggle here, just merely putting your mental health first is important here by getting things into perspective. Especially something that isn’t your fault! Most people are good and do care. The best method I’ve found acceptance. Realising your strengths, eg: writing, music. Just realising your speech is something that’s one of those things. Utilise practice methods by reading out loud alone, that’s helped me a bit! But I don’t beat myself up when I can’t express myself how I want to as much as I used to anymore. It sucks, I know. But it does get easier once you accept it. I think you learn how to do that once you get older, to protect yourself from feeling such pain. Sending all my love. Don’t forget, it doesn’t define you. You matter.
