I feel the same as you. When I first met my husband he would say it’s “cute”. I never liked when he said that but I would ignore it and play it off. Eventually we had many discussions about my struggles with it and I told him I didn’t like when he said that. If anyone else ever says it’s cute, I just ignore it. I don’t think it’s worth it to open up that conversation and be vulnerable unless it’s someone important to me. I’ve also become more confident in myself as an adult so it doesn’t bother me as much as when I was younger. I also just want to note that it’s amazing that you have a parent who stutters and they helped you build up your confidence. As a parent of a toddler, I find myself hoping that he won’t stutter, but it’s great to see that even if he may, I would be a good example for him and help him bring up his confidence! Best of luck to you!
