Stuttering and my confidence. I am a 24 year old man from the Netherlands and have been stuttering for as long as I can remember, some periods more than others. I went to a doctor about it when I was sixteen, but the strange thing was that I didn't stutter there, so I was soon out of treatment. I don't stutter when I'm alone or with friends or family. I have low self-confidence due to the stuttering, I often do not dare to give my opinion because I am afraid of stuttering. At the moment I am in the last year of my HR studies, a job where you have to talk a lot. I am very hesitant to find a job because I feel that stuttering is getting in the way of my career opportunities. I want to do something about it, but because of my previous treatment I don't see this positively either. I feel like I don't have a good future because of my stuttering. How do you get motivation to do something about your stuttering?
