Any advice from people who have legitimately "cured" their stutter? I want to cure this thing. I've had it my entire life, I didn't grow out of it like I always really hoped I would, so I want to cure it. I've gotten it down to the point where people who don't know me can barely notice it, but I still have it. I'm an expert at substituting words, at not speaking when I think I will stutter, and at covering it up in various ways. I want to stop. I don't want to be afraid and stutter when saying words starting with vowels (my personal biggest issue) . Anyone have any exercises/tips/advice on how to legitimately get to a point where the stutter is imperceptible to both another human and (more importantly) myself? I know I'm capable of it. When I'm alone, I can say 95+% of words starting with vowels. When other people are around is when I become more fearful and that percentage plummets.
