First, getting rid of anxiety or fear is called habituation (desensitisation) where one extinguishes (or dissolves) anxiety or fear. Exposure therapy focuses on this for over 50 years. Secondly, recent research has shown that habituation is less effective than previously thought. It's far more effective to 1. observe your anxiety/fear and really feel its discomfort in order to become resilient against it 2. learn that the trigger is not fearful or true to disconfirm stutter expectancy 3. stop reacting to the anxiety and distancing yourself from the anxiety (removing the meaning of fear/anxiety) to detach importance.
