i think it's misguided to maintain that we \*don't\* strive for fluency, of course we do - we want to communicate with ease. However, it is good to question why we do that, and how much relevance we want to give that in our lives, if that makes sense? There is absolutely people who maintain we shouldn't at all, but tbh, I don't think that's currently achievable with the poor level of acceptance stuttering has socially.
