Basic terminology that we must learn. Hello ppl, I've been stuttering all my life. A few things I have learnt from my experiences (& from the internet recently) that I would like to share with ALL P.W.S (People Who Stutter/Stammer): 1. Traditional Speech Therapists can't really understand or cure (if that's possible for the individual, for many it's not) stuttering. Rather we are now getting valuable insights, diagnoses & "cures" from communities of PWS. 2. Speech Blocks: Every PWS encounters a speech block _before_ they even start to talk. Once the block arises, the PWS usually deals with it by forcing their way through it, which results in an OVERT stutter or, try to hide/work around the block, which will result in a COVERT stutter. These terms are V. important in moving forward with one's stutter/stammer: 1. (What is a) Speech Block. 2. (What is) Overt stuttering. 3. (What is) Covert stuttering. We need to identify speech blocks whenever they arise before we can "dissolve" them. Looking forward to sharing more valuable insights and learning more through other people's experiences. All the best,✌️
