In my experience, college is nothing like high school. High school kids are all jerks. People in college are much more empathetic. The thing that worked for me pretty well was, right in the beginning of any conversation, even with a professor, I'd drop in sentence that yes, I stutter and you'll have to bear up with me, or some joke like no I haven't forgotten my name, I just stutter. People are often much more understanding and supportive than we make them out to be. And by accepting your stutter, you've pointed out to the elephant in the room, you'll not have to suppress it anymore for the sake of making an impression. If someone doesn't listen to you, or act like a jerk, let them go, they're not worth your time anyway.
