Sort of. Switched my major in college from computer engineering to Communication Sciences & Disorders (speech therapy/audiology). Allowed me to open up about the disability greatly, and everyone was genuinely interested in my experience and supported me to become a speech therapist. Who better than someone who fully understands the disability? (although there is a ton SLPs can do, not just stuttering therapy). Ended up not getting into grad school for it (really tough competitive field) and went into Special Education. Was treated similarly. Everyone understands and looks past the disability. I'm now a special ed case manager at a school for students with autism. Loving it so far.
