I know! I hate it so much, too, and countless times I've thought: "This person has literally nothing intelligent to say, yet they never even question it because they're fluent." It drives me mad, but I also know it's wiser to focus on myself instead of others. There will always be someone luckier or wealthier who goes forward in life with no merit.
