This is really sad, and I apologise. I once walked into a McDonald's to order something. Right off the bat I got the sensation that my stutter was going to be in overdrive mode. I just took out a pen and paper, wrote what I wanted to order and handed it to the employee as if I was mute. For a second, she had a puzzled look on her face, then she softened, assuming I was mute, and was extra nice taking the order and payment. Needles to say, I felt very tiny afterwards. 😑
