My experience has been that, if I'm angry or furious, my speech becomes much *much* worse. Mostly because I want to say so many things, usually too fast, and in a kind of explosive manner. There's too much emotional overhead to stop and slow down. There's also the factor of an increased heart rate and heavy breathing, so that worsens the speech as well. So for me, shifting attention away from prosody doesn't really help.
