I was going to say the same thing about stutter being a filter and will add that my (now) spouse told me how embarrassed she was when we first met and we went to a subway sandwich restaurant.. Any other stutterers hate subway just because you have to tell them exactly what you want on the sandwich ?🤪 I’ve tried to say just put what it comes on it or just how the picture looks and get some strange looks. Anyway, she was embarrassed I think for me and the fact that she had never heard me stutter that bad before (I was asking if they had provolone and got stuck on provolone ) and she just didn’t know what it was. She stuck with me though , we talked or saw each other every day for a year and a half, moved in together and later got married. After a almost 7 year relationship i don’t think my stutter had much importance in the relationship other than she knows I hate drive thrus and subways.
