Excellent essay. Not surprised at all that you got into Duke. Also, I loved your narrative of acceptance and awareness over "fluency". Many PWS and those around them are so focused on a cure and getting rid of it (including myself sometimes, unfortunately). Instead, I think we should be raising awareness of what stuttering actually is and how to make ourselves and those around us comfortable with it.
