Although I stutter, I do not identify as a stutterer. Rather, occasionally I have trouble speaking. Just changing your identity mindset helps you speak 5-10% better, and that's better than nothing. I've noticed recently, that many times when I encounter people, and I have to get ready to speak to them, my breathing becomes shallow and rapid, and I breathe into the back of my throat and upper chest. This makes me very tense and causes me to begin freezing up. I've just started to invoke diaphramatic breathing, and to take full breaths, just like when I play the trombone. Also, when I try to force my way out of blocks, it's beginning to hurt my ribs like hell, and afterwards I feel like I barely avoided drowning. So when I block I'm going to completely stop, breathe properly and reset, because that's better than crashing through a wall and killing myself.
