I think COVID has mentally taken a toll on my mental health and level of fluency. I think my fluency is also affected by my pregnancy. However, I think with everyone talking on the phone and zoom it has affected fluency. I know eye contact and proximity to a listener definitely plays a roll in my fluency. When I was in college, I’d try to sit towards the front. Or when I’m in person meetings I’d sit towards the leader of the speaker. Now with Zoom, it’s impossible. My only suggestion to get out of the rut is to keep trying to surround yourself by family first and close friends if the social anxiety is crippling and then slowly try new things. I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time, friend!
