I studied Japanese at university, and my first year Japanese teacher told me later that she never thought that I was going to make it to the second year. There was a 20 second dialogue everyday in class that was torturous for me, but I grinded my way through it week after week. After graduating, I got my first permanent job in Japan, met my Japanese wife here and never looked back. Who would have ever imagined that I would end up living on the other side of the world, speaking a foreign language on a daily basis.
