i hear ya, i used to feel that way. to be honest, i think worrying about stuttering in front of other people hindered me from getting into a good relationship for far too long (i've been married now for close to two years) -- it would have been much easier if i was just up-front about my stutter with people (hindsight is 20/20). the general feeling i have is that: 1) people generally don't care that you stutter and 2) if they do, they are jerks and probably have some bigger issue they are grappling with.
