I think they’ll surprise you! I’m sure lots of celebrities have had to overcome fears in terms of public speaking, doing interviews and having tons of impromptu conversations with people. Yeah, people can be jerks when they don’t understand our speech impediments but I don’t think it’s the celebrities you have to worry about! I had a therapy session back in my teens that really changed my perspective on how people reacted to my stutter. My therapist said something along the lines of: “you’re doing everything you can to overcome your stutter, any problem someone has with your speech is THEIR problem, not yours.” I think the anxiety surrounding how people view us and process our speech prevents us from living life to the fullest. It shouldn’t be that way. If someone is rude and impatient, that’s a THEM problem and a character flaw on their part. Whether they’re a celebrity or not. It’s something us stutterers need to believe - trust me, it takes a huge weight off! Go to those conventions and have fun! There will be good speech moments and bad speech moments but the good, time-worthy people will be patient and listen to you regardless of your fluency. Live your best life, friend!
