It’d be great for you to find a better job, for sure. Hopefully you can find something that lets you have breaks between talking, because it’s been really helpful for my throat tension. Just a few last random thoughts for you: I wonder if you could strengthen your lower voice to avoid voice cracking? A few things you’ve said match my own experience, from a tension perspective. I’ve found that I use voice tactics to help spit out difficult sounds (which are usually in a slightly higher-pitched voice to increase my projection and make me more ‘heard’). I find that these tactics wear out my lower voice and make it weak in the long run, though. What I’m working on at the moment is trying to emulate a voice that’s easy and relaxed, as though I were 24/7 relaxing with a friend in a bar for a Sunday lunch. I’m going for ‘easy banter’, ‘confident story telling’, ‘bellowing belly laugh’ kind of voices as often as I remember to, which is harder said than done. It may or may not be helpful, but I also remembered from you mentioning getting a dry mouth, that I’ve adapted to drinking warm or hot water instead of cold water, and I have a water bottle thermos with me at work constantly to stay hydrated. It might be a placebo, but the warm water seems to help soothe/relax everything from tongue to inner throat muscles. Staying hydrated definitely helps in general, though. Good luck on your journey, friend. It’s unfair that we need to think this hard about speaking, but I’m sure it’ll be easy one day. It’s been great hearing your story.
