The only people I know who take short sharp inhales before speaking are having literal panic attacks, or in the middle of a cardio workout. If it is actually truly working for you, I’m sincerely not sure how. We aren’t actually forgetting to breathe during blocks. We are having a sorta involuntary diaphragm tension that *blocks* our ability to breathe (valsalva maneuver). It will eventually stop, but if you want to gain control of it immediately, try breathing *out*. This what fluent speakers do - regular, smooth *exhales* upon beginning to speak. I have been doing this for about a year, and my blocks decreased by 95%. I never feel like I’m running out of air, have throat tension, or jaw tension.
