Speaking is both overrated and under appreciated. It shouldn’t be the only way to get words across to someone. There are all sorts of other options like you said with writing. There’s also text to speech, and AAC designed for non-verbal people. I think it’s an issue that it’s seen as strange to communicate in any other way but spoken conversation.
