My father, who struggled with stuttering in his late teenagehood and early adulthood, completely overcame it. Overcoming stuttering is possible. He didn't attend any speech therapy or read books about it. Instead, he observed how slow and concise the way my uncle talked. My father mimicked him and after practicing talking with my uncle, it was the start of how much my father was improving. When his work forced him to come out of his comfort zone and communicate with his customers more, my father grew more confident and eventually overcame his stuttering. I know trying to learn how to talk slowly and precisely is something we hear all the time, but it worked for my dad. Me and my brothers inherited his stuttering. I think my brother with autism doesn't struggle with stuttering anymore(?). He talks a lot and doesn't care about the way he talks, which is likely how he improved quickly. My youngest brother attended speech therapy and it helped him in the long run. I also attended a bit of speech therapy myself but I have a long way to go.
