I noticed something weird I'm not sure this would make any sense, but hear me out. I suffer from sudden blocks during speech accompanied by the occasional repetition of certain words and it's honestly the worst thing ever. It so happens that I speak to myself from time to time as a way of practising fluent speech, and just yesterday while speaking to myself in front of a mirror, I noticed that I tend to keep my lips in this sort of fixed position while talking, like, no movement whatsoever. I guess I subconsciously adopted this way of speaking due to my extreme awkwardness and low self-esteem outdoors. I then tried to exaggerate the way I pronounce words, drastically moving my mouth and shaping it into a wide smile when saying "yeah" for example, and noticed just how different and relaxed I sound. I also recall this one time when my friend told me that I spurted out my words when talking and that I should loosen up a bit. I feel like this could be connected to my previous argument of not doing each word justice. Anyhow, I'm really curious if any of y'all noticed the same kinda behavior when stuttering..
