I'm a bit late to the party but a bit of feedback about this. Overcoming a stutter (both the stutter itself and all the mental toll) is something that take many years (even decades), and there are people that never get over it. If you are looking for realism, consider that maybe your character shouldn't be able to improve much (unless the history happens over years or she actively works on it).
