He doesn’t need to work on his fluency because he isn’t articulating words with his mouth. He’s just making a noise. I bet when you bang your finger, you still say ouch or make some other noise. Or people with stutters can still cry. I’m a stutterer but at university I studied speech and language. There’s so many factors that can cause a stutter and dogs don’t have a lot of them to begin with. Neurological pathways for speech might be wired the wrong way, dogs wouldn’t have these. It could be because of the shape of the mouth, dogs don’t have a mouth shaped to enable it to produce words. Would a dog be able to produce complex enough sentences that you want to communicate? Probably not, because a toddler can’t, and we know roughly that a dog’s cognitive function is that of a two year old. Don’t put yourself down by comparing yourself to a dog. You can get there when you persevere, no matter how hard it is. You can type messages to communicate what you want to say, produce artwork, learn sign language. There’s so much in this world you can do even with your speech hindered. Believe in yourself, don’t let it stop you buddy! You’re a human being, don’t ever count yourself as any less 😊
