Movies are one of the primarily reasons why stuttering isn't looked on as a deficiency or a legit 'problem' because it was always used as a butt of a joke or made fun of. Stutter has always been used to portray characters that were losers or had confidence issues, or for a comedic effect. Pop culture has a huge impact on our lives, and seeing stutters in movies being goofy and comedic switches our brains to take this problem lightly and make fun of people who suffer from stutter. Same goes for fat and short people.
