They usually don’t like to have it pointed out by people who don’t stutter. It comes off almost accusing and puts them on the spot. It’d be completely different if another stutterer mentioned it because he’d know it’s coming from a place of understanding. The dentist is likely very insecure about his stutter and might’ve assumed he was being mocked. I’d feel pretty shitty if someone did that to me.
