I went to a lot of speech classes as a child and the one thing they repeatedly beat into my head was the idea of speaking with a steady cadence. Every class I would be encouraged to sort of tap my hand to a steady beat and talk with it. I’m pretty sure it stemmed from the same way music activates the brain. You don’t stutter when you sing because it activates a different part of the brain. Same idea. Through years of repetition I sort of just adopted a rhythm to my speech. When I’m having a particularly tough time with my stutter I go back to making sure I’m consciously keeping a cadence. It usually helps me.
