Ankyloglossia and Stuttering I'm a 19 year old who has been stuttering ever since I was younger. My stuttering has bothered me to an extent that I have a hard time saying specific words. I have this case called Ankyloglossia; it's basically a minor issue wherin a small strand of muscle on the tip of my tongue is still connected to the gums below my teeth. Normally, it is cut by the doctor upon childbirth, but in my case, I didn't get mine cut for some reason. Because of that, my tongue can't go full range in motion like others do. I can't pull my tongue up, and if I did put my tongue out it would look very short. Does Ankyloglossia have a role on my stuttering? I can speak straight most of the time but in some cases, I stutter on some words and there would be times where I can't just say what I want to say. I'm planning to undergo surgery to have my Ankyloglossia treated. It's just a fast procedure but I'm left curious if this always had an effect on my speech? Anyone here who can back me up with some information? Thank you!
