I'm a therapist whose client stutters (advice welcomed) I got a client recently that has a MASSIVE stutter. At first I was insanely nervous because I didn't want to do anything to make her feel awkward since I figured she'd gotten enough of that shit her whole life. So nervous, in fact, that I became vigilantly aware of any time I wanted to interject and finish a sentence for her in the interest of time and efficiency. It worked out because she essentially spends a full hour talking, uninterrupted, and works out how she feels about things. She's said that she enjoys sessions with me because she doesn't get the opportunity to talk that much in her day to day. Any other advice? Anyone been in a similar situation as a client?
