“We learned to be frustrated because everyone acts frustrated at us because of it” << 100% this. Though I’ll admit, my entire life, I’ve never had an adult act frustrated at me over it after I became an adult myself. The only ones who expressed frustration at me over it were adults when I was a child, while kids mocked (imitated me) very cruelly. Actually, sometimes teachers mocked me in this way too, in front of the entire class! Lovely stuff. /s I wonder how many childhood stutters would disappear if no one mocked us or made any sort of big deal about it. If it was a complete non issue. But yeah, can’t underestimate what a supportive environment will do for your self-acceptance. It helps a TON.
