I never did therapist-led CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), but I kind of did my own version over many years, and it was very helpful. It's changing your mindset how you approach conversations, not dwelling on stuttering, focusing on the conversation, minimizing catastrophizing, etc etc. Mindfulness goes well with that also. I was in formal therapy for coping with a current trauma (non stuttering) and the therapist focused on somatic therapy. We did a few sessions focusing on stuttering and it was very emotional and powerful. You dont realize how much your body holds onto things. I have been very accepting over the years and through CBT and desensitization my stutter has mattered so much less in my life, but going through somatic therapy made me realize your body still holds onto those learned responses from your childhood. Feel free to DM me if you have more questions.
