I only read the paper's summary and OP's comments, but this seems like it's completely missing the wealth of insight from brain imaging studies on stuttering that have been going on since the mid-90's. Just the studies from 2008 on explain so much about stuttering as issues within speech motor production, and how different interventions improve fluency while also causing (or at least correlating) with neuroplasticity. I don't mean to be overly critical, but I just wish that more people knew about these studies because I trust peer-reviewed empirical research over someone's conceptualization. Especially if it seems like they haven't read the research that is already out there.
