I had a pretty horrible stutter up until mid-late high school (39 now), when it appeared to simply gradually vanish to the point most people in my life nowadays do not know that I stuttered. On the very very rare occasion when I am extremely tired I may still run into the odd block. Otherwise, I've had a career in sales for most of my adult life (telemarketing, door to door canvassing, corporate presentations, now in my senior years running a business and coaching and training sales people and spend 90% of my workday talking and speaking without any challenge. How rare is it for somebody to simply "grow out" of a significant stutter? People still ask me how I overcame it and I never quite know what to say.
