It’s actually really interesting how different that stat becomes depending on what population of people you look at. In europeans the number is usually around 1% of people, tends to be higher in east and south asian populations and some of africa has as high as like 8% of the population with some form of lifelong speech impediment. No clue why that could be, but it is interesting. (This data is from a study I read like 4 years ago so I can’t give specific stats or locations or find the source probably sorry lol)
