There’s a severe lack of awareness and unfortunately that leads to all the misconceptions like it having to do with our intelligence or we’re just really anxious. And yeah not many people want to take that time to learn about it and it’s a shame. Because I wear a tag that says I stutter to my work, people tell me like “I don’t hear it” or “You did really well on that”, and my only answer is that it truly depends on the day or moment. My stutter isn’t overt or constant but it’s definitely there when it rears its ugly head, so I think people also expect it to be black and white sometimes too, like you stutter absolutely everything or you stutter sometimes and you get a little pat on the back for talking good that day. Sorry that may have sounded bitter there but yeah, it’s hard enough to talk in general let alone get the time in to educate someone on a thing they never had to worry about. But me, I just like learning new stuff so I think I would totally want to know more if it were me! Good talk, thanks :)
